We’re back again after a little hiatus and ready to sate your thirst… with local breweries! The craft beer movement has established itself over the past decade promoting the art, culture and history of beer making and spurring experiences for visitors to learn about the process and taste the results. Here in part one, we’ll explore the local breweries in the communities of Edson, Hinton and Jasper.
Ok, let’s do this!
Apex Brewing, Edson
At Apex Brewing, they craft fresh and intricate brews from natural elements to showcase award-winning flavours. Their creations are made to be savoured during your casual camp outs, under the stars of the backcountry or at your favourite bar after a long day.
Although, nestled deep in Bench Creek, Yellowhead County, Apex Brewing is easy to reach from the highway between Edmonton and Hinton. Visit their taproom (reopening this April) where you can take in the breathtaking views from a sun-kissed patio, breathtaking views, while tasting a range of thoughtfully developed brews.
Folding Mountain Brewing, Hinton
Just a little west of Hinton proper, Folding Mountain Brewing is serving up a number of experiences. Their lovely grounds are the site of numerous events during summer and winter, you can dine on-site from their menu of fantastic favourites (burgers, poutine, nachos, etc) or try out their many brews from their dog-friendly patio. Head on by for a tasting at their taproom on your next trip to Hinton or Jasper.
Jasper Brewing Company, Jasper
The Jasper Brewing Company is officially Canada’s first National Park brewery. Since 2005, they’ve been been crafting unique beers, but that’s not all. Their passion for crafting beer eventually also developed into a brewpub serving Alberta-inspired classics, often with a twist. Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, Rustic Elk Meatloaf and Cast-Iron Nachos are some of our go-to faves. Visit for lunch or dinner but be sure to note that they are open late and start serving a late-night menu at 11pm. Beer anytime!
