And here we are, back again! If you’ve enjoyed the STAYCATION SERIES, you’ll be thrilled for today’s blog, the third and final in this series featuring how to plan a Girl’s Staycation.
Yup, that’s right – this one’s for the girls!
We’ve got breakdowns of things to do, see and eat in Hinton and Red Deer with a nod to Jasper. We’re sure you’re going to love it.
Ok, let’s do this!
What to Pack
The easy fun part!
Comfy, cozy clothes and jammies are a necessity. Pair those with some sparkling wine and La Croix, a swimsuit (for a dip in the hotel’s pool and hot tub to soak your stresses away) and your favourite sheet masks. Order-in food and you’re all set.
Your staycation could be as simple as that! Afterall, sometimes just getting away from home with your besties for a change of scene is the best medicine for the winter blues.
However, we’ve got a few more ideas should you like to venture out and add to your experiences.
What to Do
If Hinton is your staycation destination, you may be surprised by all the hidden gems you can discover in this lovely little mountain town.
Try something new at New Heights Fitness! Billed as yoga and fitness in Hinton, New Heights offers a wide array of different fitness activities that include aerial yoga, aerial hammock and even pole fitness classes!
Girls getaways are a perfect time to indulge in some self-care and Hinton has what you need. At Juniper Wellness amp up your skin health with a holistic approach. Facials, gua sha and lymphatic drainage services will have you glowing and relaxed. Follow up with a delightful massage or acupuncture at Enigma Holistic Healing.
Heading to Red Deer instead Oh girl! We’ve got a different type of itinerary for you here.
Do some pampering the way you would at home or in your hotel room, but make it professional. Head to Solorzano Spa, Cafe and Wine Bar (yes, you read that right!) for facials, mani/pedis and medispa services located in a stunning Victorian-style house. Follow up with a bite to eat or a glass of wine without having to leave. Ahhh! That just might be the definition of perfection.
Red Deer has a plethora of charming local shops to peruse during a chilled-out afternoon. We love Housewarmings and Country Cupboard for their selection of rustic, unique furnishings, décor and giftware.
Where to Eat
Here we have our two favourite spots in each one of Hinton and Red Deer so you have a shortlist to consider.
In Hinton, for coffee and casual lunch or brunch, The Old Grind is the spot to try. With an extensive menu of drinks, sammies, baked goods and more, you’ll find something tasty to keep you going.
Dinner? Rojo Marron Mexican Restaurant and Café is authentic Mexican cuisine like burritos, enchiladas, and street tacos. Opened in 2017, it’s quickly become a dining highlight in Hinton.
Staying on the latin food path, Red Deer has Pupuseria Cristy serving up the likes of beef pozole, shrimp ceviche, and baked ribs costilla, among others. Check out Occam’s Razor for dinner and drinks. Their exciting and eclectic menu has finely crafted favourites with inventive names like Low Fidelity – Fried, panko-crusted buttermilk-brined chicken breast, shredded & seasoned cabbage, Japanese BBQ sauce and The Big Fish – Gluten-free battered haddock, minted peas, tartar sauce, triple cooked fries and ketchup
